The conceptual drawings of the waterfront by Fleet
Associates.
Many hours of work and community involvement has gone into expressing what most
citizens would like to see-- a passive waterfront park somewhat similar to
St. Mary's-- that preserves the view and openness of the river, with a green
market and area where the shrimpers can sell their wares and a waterfront
that has a historical nature to it.
The Commission paid these new consultants, Fleet, a lot of money- so they
spent most of it catching up to the point where the Ivey Planning Group left
off when they were relieved of their duties- then they created their own
version of what looks to be a Disneyesque-type design. Many people who have
been involved for the long haul are saddened by this.
